For a growing EU store, the honest answer is "it depends on what is breaking". CJdropshipping suits wide product testing with no subscription. Zendrop suits US-focused Shopify stores that want one app. AutoDS is automation software first. A private agent fits once you have steady winners and need sourcing, QC and accountability from one named partner.

Key takeaways

  • These are four different models: a sourcing platform (CJ), a catalogue app (Zendrop), an automation suite (AutoDS) and a service partner (private agent).
  • CJ and private agents charge no stated subscription. Zendrop and AutoDS charge monthly plans, as of 13 October 2026.
  • All four ship most EU orders from China, so measure delivery, not marketing claims.
  • Since 1 July 2026, ask every provider how parcels are declared under the new EUR 3 duty.
  • Switch gradually: run the new supplier on a few SKUs before moving everything.

What is each one: supplier, platform, automation tool or agent?

  • CJdropshipping is a large China-based sourcing and fulfillment platform with a catalogue, sourcing requests and its own warehouses. Its Shopify app is free to install, and you pay product and service fees.
  • Zendrop describes itself as a US-based company with a catalogue of over 1 million items, US 3PL warehousing and a China fulfillment service.
  • AutoDS is an automation suite for importing products, monitoring prices and auto-ordering. It also runs the AutoDS Warehouse, which its help center calls "a fulfillment center located in China and managed directly by AutoDS".
  • A private agent is a company that sources products on request, buys, checks, packs and ships for your store, and usually prices by quote rather than subscription.

How do they compare on price, speed, warehouses and ratings?

Figures are each company's own claims unless marked as third-party. Ratings were checked on 13 October 2026 and rechecked on 16 October 2026: scores were unchanged, review counts below are from 16 October. Prices and ratings change, so check the linked pages before deciding.

Note: Zendrop's Shopify listing adds a Beginner plan at $29/month, with no linked products on the free plan. Trustpilot states it has "removed a number of fake reviews" for CJ, which is why no score is shown.

Which gives faster EU delivery, and how was that measured?

Zendrop publishes business-day averages, CJ's figure is a third-party test, AutoDS gives blog ranges and agents quote per line. None are measured the same way.

A neutral baseline helps. ParcelsApp's tracked data for all China-origin parcels over the last 60 days shows a median of 8 days to the Netherlands and 10 days to Germany, in calendar days. If a provider's real results sit far from those medians, ask why.

The fastest EU option on paper is local stock. CJ's US and German warehouses can ship in 2 to 3 days according to its listing, but a third-party review notes that only a fraction of CJ's catalogue sits in local warehouses at any time. For everything else, processing time is what you can most influence. See our guide to real China to Europe delivery times.

Who handles IOSS and the new EUR 3 duty?

None of the four pages we checked spells out how parcels are declared for the EU, so ask each provider directly.

The background: IOSS covers imported consignments not exceeding EUR 150. Since 1 July 2026, the EUR 150 duty exemption has gone and a temporary flat EUR 3 duty applies per category of goods in low-value parcels until 1 July 2028, as reported by PwC citing Regulation (EU) 2026/382. Details such as how categories are counted should be checked against the official text. Our IOSS and EUR 3 duty guide covers it. This is general information, not tax advice.

How do quality control and wrong-item claims differ?

CJ inspects every order shipped from its warehouses, but the same third-party review describes these as quick visual checks, not lab testing. CJ's lower-star reviews mention wrong SKUs, stock discrepancies and slow resolution.

Zendrop's low-star Trustpilot reviews focus on disputed charges, chatbot support and out-of-stock items. AutoDS reviews mention site performance and unresolved stock issues. These are patterns in a minority of reviews, not the typical experience: both hold scores above 4.5.

With a private agent, QC is whatever you agree in writing. That is a strength with a clear standard and a risk without one. Our agent vetting checklist covers what to agree.

Which supports branding and custom packaging?

Where is each one strong?

  • CJ: huge catalogue, sourcing requests, no subscription, some local stock, and a 4.9 Shopify rating from thousands of reviews. Good for testing many products cheaply.
  • Zendrop: one app for catalogue, fulfillment and branding, plus public per-country delivery averages, which few rivals publish.
  • AutoDS: strong automation across many channels and suppliers, with the largest Trustpilot review base of the four.
  • Private agent: sourcing on request, a named contact and negotiated terms, which matter most once a few products carry your store.

What does a private agent look like in practice?

Facts as each company states them:

  • ASG Dropshipping: "over 200 staff", a dedicated Personal Agent, a quote and sample inspection video within 24 hours, no setup fee.
  • HyperSKU: no subscription, sourcing within 48 hours, 10+ global warehouses.
  • Flashfulfil: a China-based fulfillment partner with its own office and warehouse in China, quote-based pricing, a stated 24h processing time and 99.9% order accuracy, with sourcing and fulfillment in one place.

When is switching worth it, and how do I switch without downtime?

Switch when a problem keeps costing money: repeated wrong items, refunds eating margin, or support that cannot fix things. Run the numbers in the margin calculator first.

To switch without downtime:

  1. Keep your listings. Your product pages and reviews live in your store, so you change who fulfills an order, not what customers see.
  2. Start with two or three SKUs. Order a paid sample batch from the new supplier and time it end to end.
  3. Run both in parallel. Shopify treats dropshipping apps and 3PLs as locations, so you can route specific products to the new supplier while the old one keeps the rest.
  4. Move stock and SKU mappings in batches, checking stock counts as you go.
  5. Update shipping times on your store if delivery changes, then move the remaining SKUs.
  6. Keep the old account open for a few weeks for returns and late claims.

Frequently asked questions

Is AutoDS a supplier?

Mostly no. AutoDS is automation software that imports products and places orders with suppliers. It does run its own AutoDS Warehouse in China and lists independent "Private Suppliers" in its marketplace, so it can act as a supplier for some products. For anything else, it automates orders with retail or wholesale suppliers you choose.

Is CJdropshipping really free?

CJ's Shopify app is free to install, and you pay for products, shipping and service fees. Third parties mention optional paid tiers and storage fees after a free period, but we could not confirm those on CJ's own pages. Ask CJ for a full fee breakdown for your products before comparing it with a quote from anyone else.

Is the Zendrop subscription worth it?

It depends on volume and market. Automated fulfillment needs a paid plan ($49 or $79 a month on its website as of 13 October 2026). For a US-focused store that values one app, that can be fine. For an EU store, compare Zendrop's published delivery averages for your countries with quotes from other providers first.

Can I use AutoDS with a private agent?

Possibly, but check with AutoDS. Its marketplace lists independent "Private Suppliers", but whether your own agent can join is a question for AutoDS. Many sellers skip the middle layer: the agent connects to the store directly or takes orders by file, and AutoDS stays for product research.

Will my reviews and SKUs carry over if I switch?

Your reviews live in your store, attached to your product pages, so they stay as long as you keep the same listings. SKUs and variant mappings need to be set up with the new supplier, product by product. Do it in batches and test a real order for each before moving the next.

Can I run two suppliers in parallel?

Yes, and it is the safest way to switch. In Shopify, apps and 3PLs can act as separate locations, so you can route some products to one supplier and the rest to another. It also gives you a backup if one supplier has stock or service problems.

Which one ships to Israel, Canada and Australia?

All four can ship internationally, but times vary widely. Zendrop's own averages are 23.4 business days to Israel and 11.3 to Australia. For CJ, AutoDS and private agents, ask for the lines and recent delivery data for each country you sell into.

Is there anything better than CJdropshipping?

For testing lots of products cheaply, CJ is hard to beat. Once a handful of winners carry your store, many sellers want a named contact, written QC standards and sourcing on request, which is where a private agent or fulfillment partner fits. "Better" depends on which problem you are trying to solve.
